Dr Raakesh Dayaram
Dr R Dayaram attained his bachelor’s degrees in medicine and surgery from the University of Pretoria in 2005. He then completed his internship at the Piet Retief Hospital in 2006. His community service year was spent in Emalahleni (Witbank) where he spent as much time as he could in the surgical department. He worked as a medical officer in the surgical department for a year awaiting a position as a medical officer in the Ophthalmology department. He then spent 3 years as a medical officer in Witbank hospital awaiting a registrar placement.
Dr Dayaram underwent intensive and thorough Ophthalmic registrar training in the University of Wiwatersrand registrar circuit. Here he spent most of his time at St John Eye Hospital, but also rotated through Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital, Helen Joseph Hospital and Lenasia South Community health centre. He further completed a dissertation entitled: Visual acuity outcomes achieved post cataract surgery at St John Eye Hospital in order to obtain a Masters in Medicine degree in Ophthalmology. |
